150 students, parents, teachers, and administrators from St. Richard’s Episcopal School participated in this year’s Indy Do Day cleaning up multiple areas in Mapleton Fall Creek and HMP, including our very own Pocket Park. Students gathered at the HMP Pocket Park to hear a brief history of the neighborhood from Lorraine Vavul and about Destination Fall Creek from Doug Day. Groups of 20-25 students and adults dispersed to seven additional locations beyond the HMP Pocket Park picking up trash along the way. Their route included Silver Creek Park, Fall Creek Gardens, Polin Park, Ruckle Street Park, Dove Recovery Center and Trinity Church/St Richard’s. Once at these sites groups weeded, spread mulch, picked up litter, cleared storm drains, raked leaves and/or organized and cleaned storage areas. In all more than 125 bags of trash, leaves and debris were collected.
