The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, the world's largest, is located within walking distance at 3oth and Meridian Streets (entrance is off of Illinois Street).
Crown Hill Cemetery, the resting place of many famous (and infamous) Hoosiers.
The Indianapolis Museum of Art at 38th and Michigan Road is just a short drive away.
Indiana State Fairgrounds, home of the Indiana State Fair and the Pepsi Coliseum.
The Monon Trail recreational trail is reachable just south of the Indiana State Fairgrounds near the Watson Bird Sanctuary. The southern end of the trail is scheduled to open soon.
The Central Canal Towpath, another recreational trail which intersects with the Monon Trail and weaves through Butler University and the Indianapolis Museum of Art, can be reached by heading north to Kessler Boulevard.
The Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana often features tours of historic neighborhoods and other events of interest.
The 38th Street Corridor provides access to restaurants such as Burger King, McDonald's, Subway, and China King, drug stores Walgreen's and CVS, a Foot Locker at 38th and Illinois Streets and Starbucks at 38th and Meridian Streets.
A small shopping area at 49th and Pennsylvania Streets in the historic Meridian-Kessler neighborhood provides a Sullivan's Hardware store, the renown Cafe Patachou restaurant, Meridian Street Cleaners, a gift store, TCBY/Noble Roman's, Hubbard and Craven's Coffeehouse, G. C. Lucas Art Gallery, the Bank of Indianapolis, a Shell Station, a foreign car repair, Corks gourmet food store, Hamaker's Drug Store, a framing shop, and an antique shop.
Mo Bev's Deli, at the intersection of Boulevard and 46th Streets in the Butler-Tarkington neighborhood, provides breakfast and lunch options.
Circle Centre Mall, located in downtown Indianapolis, features Nordstrom's and Parisian department stores. Reasonably-priced parking ($1.50 for up to 3 hours) is available in the mall's parking garages which are easily accessible from Illinois Street, Maryland Street, and Washington Street. The revitalization of this area has also brought with it some top-notch restaurants, some located within the mall and some nearby.
Lafayette Square Mall is located at 38th Street and Lafayette Road, a short drive from the neighborhood either headed west on 38th Street or by taking I-65 northbound to the 38th Street exit. Anchor stores include L. S. Ayres and Sears. Lots of additional shopping is available near the mall.
Glendale Mall is located north and east from the neighborhood at 62nd and Keystone Avenue. The anchor store here is L. S. Ayres. The mall also contains Kerasotes Theater, Staples, and a location of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library. A Lowe's hardware store is located just south of the mall.
The following neighborhoods are listed as Historic Districts in the National Register of Historic Places. The Indianapolis Star's web site contains profiles of many of these neighborhoods.
Chatham Arch: Roughly bounded by I-65, College Avenue, 10th Street, 11th Street, North Street New Jersey Street, Cleveland Avenue, and East Street, features examples of Italianate, Queen Anne, and Gothic Revival architecture.
Cottage Home: Bounded by 10th Street, College Avenue, Michigan Street, and Oriental Street; adjacent to Arsenal Tech High School.
Fletcher Place: Bounded by Louisiana Street, I-65, I-70, and East Street.
Forest Hills: Located in the larger Meridian-Kessler neighborhood, this section is bounded by the Monon railroad tracks, Kessler Boulevard, College Avenue, and Northview Avenue.
