Did you know that the HMPNA Board meets once a month at the Raphael Community Room and anyone is welcome to attend? Did you know that the HMPNA Board is made up of volunteers who are committed to the  neighborhood? Did you know that the HMPNA Board will be accepting nominations for board membership? Elections typically take place at the beginning of the year.

Board participation is a rewarding experience that gives neighbors the opportunity to help develop neighborhood priorities and have a voice in the direction of the neighborhood. Be on the lookout for information regarding board service in the months to come.

The HMPNA Board depends on voluntary annual dues to continue hosting events and caring for the neighborhood. One new initiative planned for 2023 is a “pay it forward” opportunity. Recognizing and respecting that not every household is in a position to contribute dues each year, the board plans on facilitating an opportunity for HMP residents to contribute on behalf of another (unnamed/anonymous) household. The goal is to have over 50% of the households as contributing or sponsored members by the end of the year.

The board will be considering other fundraising opportunities as expenses are increasing. The best way to ensure neighborhood solvency is to pay your neighborhood dues. Dues can be made payable via PayPal, cash, check, or by in kind donations. Dues pay for park insurance and maintenance, beautification of the roundabout and other neighborhood common areas, and in support of the social events. Events such as the HMP Home Tour also required additional insurance. The board has determined that to keep finances in check, the Progressive Dinner and Christmas Party will be contingent upon neighborhood finances.

There are many opportunities for short term or longer term commitments in the neighborhood. Please consider if what level of participation best suits your needs and contact any board member for assistance. Commitments may include:

  • Hosting a social event
  • Set up or tear down at events
  • Passing our flyers door to door
  • Volunteering at an alley clean-up and pocket park work days

Board Vice President Chris Roberson is the HMP representative on the Mapleton Fall Creek Development Corp. Chris will continue to report back on updates. Current focus for the past MFCDC was the development of affordable housing unit at 29th-30th and Central (~150 units). As more information becomes available, Chris will keep the neighborhood updated.

As always, please reach out to any board member with questions, concerns, or suggestions for how the board can continue to strengthen and support the caring and welcoming community that the HMP neighbors have all worked so hard to build!
