My name is Susan Martinez and I am your new Mayor’s Neighborhood Advocate!

A little background about myself: I grew up in Chicago’s Southside and attended DePauw University which is an hour south of Indy. Last April, I joined the City-County Council staff and transitioned to the Mayor’s Office in January. I live on the Westside now, and my cat, Aubrey, and I love the city. I am particularly excited to visit Eagle Creek Park as the weather gets nicer!

For the past couple of months, I have been making the rounds, meeting neighbors, and attending neighborhood meetings which have been a pleasure, and I am excited to continue meeting you all and helping out wherever I can. If you have never heard of a Mayor’s Neighborhood Advocate (that’s ok! I find that most people I meet haven’t either!), MNAs work to resolve issues, acting as a bridge to manage relationships with neighborhood stakeholders and leaders to ensure full transparency and understanding. For example, we visit neighborhood meetings and share city updates, help neighborhood associations get projects off the ground with city support, and help individual residents navigate city services to get their questions answered.

If you have any questions or concerns about something you see in your neighborhood, feel free to contact me at susan.martinez2@indy.gov or call me at 317-429-7806.
