The HMPNA Board is formulating a plan for determining how many and which street lights have the most impact on safety and security while being conscious of cost to neighbors. IPL provided a list of the lamp posts with post numbers throughout the neighborhood including information on which are currently attached to an account. A group of neighbors are planning to walk the alleys in the evening to take an inventory, vet the report from IPL, and start to chart the posts noting whether on or off, etc… Any interested neighbor is welcome to join. Contact any Board member for information on days and times of the neighborhood walk through. The Board will make sure that neighbors are updated on progress and next steps. Look for information in the Urban Times, website, and Facebook group. We are still determining the best way to approach funding of the lights such as whether individuals sponsor and pay on their own IPL account or contribute to the neighborhood association and the neighborhood association pays through an IPL account.
